About the Author:
Suzy Cohen is a licensed pharmacist with almost 20 years of clinical experience. Dubbed “America’s Most Trusted Pharmacist,” she has helped thousands of patients in various clinical settings such as retail, hospital, nursing home pharmacies, and through her syndicated column. Her first book, The 24-Hour Pharmacist, has been published by HarperCollins. Working in nursing homes taught Suzy the precious value of good health and life itself. Her years of service prompted her to begin writing a column to help the public learn about health options, further upstream, before it was too late. Eventually newspapers began to see that Suzy offered straightforward, no-nonsense health advice that is accurate and often entertaining, and began to pick up her column. Within two years, Suzy’s column was nationally syndicated by Tribune Media Services in Chicago. Circulation is now over 24 million readers each week, and sold internationally. She appears in the Ft. Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel, the Sacramento Bee, and Denver Post among others. Suzy is the former spokesperson for the National Association of Chain Drug Stores (NACDS) “Get Rx Healthy” campaign. In September 2004, Suzy was a keynote speaker at the Jacob K. Javits Center in New York City for the “Pathways to Beauty and Wellness” convention. In February 2006, Suzy was selected as one of three national guest experts for Well-being Rx, a media event with editors from Cosmopolitan, O, and Glamour magazine. She educates fellow pharmacists through Continuing Education (CE) programs which appear in national pharmacy magazines, long-term care facilities, and the web. Suzy believes that the mind, body, and spirit are all connected. For this reason, she approaches medical conditions with an open mind, offering suggestions in her column and her book to enrich your health that come from a cross-trained perspective. Dr. Julian Whitaker, founder of the Whitaker Wellness Institute in California, says, “Suzy Cohen has come up with a to-do list for treating everything from serious illness to the bumps and bruises of everyday life. Her book is not only enormously helpful but also a real kick in the pants to read.” Suzy is married to Dr. Sam Cohen; they have three children between, Samara 17, Michael 14, and Rachel 14. They reside in sunny central Florida. Suzy is a 1989 graduate of the University of Florida, College of Pharmacy. Go Gators!
