Renowned Omega-3 Researcher to Set the Record Straight on Fish Oil Nordic Naturals® Hosts Lecture by Dr. Bruce Holub during International College of Integrative Medicine “End Pain” CME Conference
Watsonville, California (September 9, 2013) Nordic Naturals will sponsor a timely lecture by Dr. Bruce Holub at “End Pain,” the International College of Integrative Medicine’s 59th Congress, to be held at the Dearborn Inn Marriott, in Dearborn, Michigan, September 24-28. The lecture, entitled “EPA/DHA Omega-3 Fatty Acids for Health and the Management of Chronic Disorders,” will be held at 2 PM, Friday, September 26, in Salon IV & V. Following the lecture, Dr. Holub will participate in the 4 PM “The Great Fish Oil Debate” in which he will share his extensive knowledge and expertise regarding the well-researched role of omega-3s in optimal health. Dr. Holub’s lecture will include a discussion of the long-chain essential fatty acids EPA and DHA, including science-backed benefits, structures, unique properties, sources, dietary intakes, and overall metabolism. He will offer objective commentary on recent omega-3 research and review papers in the news, and will address how enhanced intakes of EPA/DHA impact health outcomes. He will also discuss the EPA/DHA “nutrition gap” and recommended intakes according to various national and international guidelines. “More than 90% of Americans are deficient in omega-3s,” said Monique Wellise, Manager of Education and Professional Sales for Nordic Naturals. She cites Dr. Dariush Mozaffarian of Harvard School of Public Health who estimates that omega-3 deficiency is responsible for up to 96,000 preventable deaths annually. “It is tragic that sensationalized headlines and misinformation have resulted in a public loss of confidence in the most heavily researched supplement on the market,” Wellise noted. “The Global Organization for EPA and DHA Omega-3 (GOED) estimates 12 million people have stopped taking omega-3s. This trend poses a danger to public health. We applaud Dr. Holub’s efforts to set the record straight.” Nordic Naturals will exhibit its professional line of products during the conference, showcasing its best-selling, signature product, ProOmega®, available in soft gels and liquid. Participants are invited to stop by to pick up literature and sample a wide range of omega-3 products and select EFA blends, specially formulated for the needs of practitioners. Orders placed at the conference will receive a 20% discount.
